Grammar / Notes
- Indefinite subject man means “one/you/people” in general: Wie kommt man jetzt in die Stadt? (“How does one get to the city now?”)
- Direction with in + accusative: to say you go into a place, German uses in die with feminine die Stadt: Wie kommt man jetzt in die Stadt? (“How does one get to the city now?”)
- The accusative is used after durch, so the article changes to den: Er antwortet: „Zu Fuß, es ist nicht weit“, und sie geht traurig durch den Regen. (“He answers, ‘On foot, it is not far,’ and she sadly walks through the rain.”)
- am is an + dem, and it is dative: Heute ist Sonntag und es regnet stark. (“Today is Sunday and it is raining heavily.”)
